FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 12 AT THE CARLO GOLDONI THEATER IN VENICE
“NOTES AND WORDS” – the result of a special collaboration between young talents in Music and Literature

The CPM Music Institute, the Higher Artistic Education school in Milan founded and directed by Franco Mussida, together with the “Il Campiello” Foundation, renew for the 5th consecutive year their collaborative project, culminating on Friday, September 12 with “NOTES AND WORDS”. This special event, within the framework of Campiello Giovani, brings together CPM students from the Pop Rock Composition program led by Alberto Cipolla with the young finalist writers of one of the most important awards in the Italian literary scene, celebrating this year its 30th anniversary.

In early September, future composers and writers took part in a shared workshop where music was created starting from literary works. A four-handed educational project aimed at fostering dialogue and exchange between young people engaged in different arts – music and literature – which play a fundamental role not only in artistic communication but also in society.

The compositions created as part of this project, conceived by Franco Mussida, will be presented during the Campiello Giovani final on Friday, September 12 at 7:00 PM at the Goldoni Theater in Venice. This invitation-only event will feature the CPM Ultra Pop Band performing live the works born from the collaboration between CPM students and Campiello Giovani finalists, while actors from the Teatro Stabile del Veneto – Teatro Nazionale will read excerpts from the stories, accompanied by choreographies from the Diaghilev Venezia Dance School, founded by Francesca Siega.

Directed by Davide Stefanato, the evening will be hosted by Federico Basso and Davide Paniate, and will also feature a musical contribution by Franco Mussida. The event, realized in collaboration with the Teatro Stabile del Veneto – Teatro Nazionale, will be broadcast live on the Premio Campiello YouTube channel.

The CPM Ultra Pop Band is composed of Beatrice Secco (drums), Tommaso Di Gioia (guitar), Carloalberto Viani (keyboards), Edoardo Radaelli (vocals), Pietro Bombardelli (vocals), Paolo Chiocci (vocals), Irene Tomassini (vocals), Lara Mandelli (vocals), and Giulia Bottaro (vocals), under the artistic coordination of Maestro Alberto Cipolla.

During the evening, in addition to the announcement of the winner of the 30th edition of the Campiello Giovani, there will also be awards for the best story on the theme of business culture (in collaboration with the National Movement of Young Entrepreneurs of Confindustria) and for works addressing social and/or environmental sustainability, supported by Intesa Sanpaolo (exclusive partner of Campiello Giovani).

The project involved aspiring composers and performers Giovanni Deidda, Carloalberto Viani, Gianluca Conte, Nicola Danese, and Matteo Zanaboni, who collaborated with the young literary talents Valeria Arieti (author of “Le cose che cadono”“The Things That Fall”), Giacomo Bonato (“Verso Oriente”“Eastward”), Giacomo Masut (“Ferro e anima”“Iron and Soul”), Chiara Miscali (“Fa male, il mare d’inverno”“It Hurts, the Winter Sea”), and Aurora Vannucci (“Un posto nel mondo”“A Place in the World”).

The CPM Music Institute (recognized by the Italian Ministry of Universities and Research as a Higher Education Institute in the Arts, Music and Dance) offers a multidisciplinary academic program with three- and two-year courses leading to First- and Second-Level Academic Diplomas, equivalent to Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, valid across Italy and all European countries. A distinctive trait of the CPM is creating opportunities for students to meet and work in teams that pursue the realization of a Dream. This has been true not only for outstanding students such as Mahmood, Tananai, Renzo Rubino, Chiara Galiazzo, Assurditè, Lucrezia, Chiamamifaro, and many others, but for all who benefit from the professional opportunities, creative projects, stage experiences, and auditions offered during their studies. Today, many alumni perform in prestigious orchestras or as band members and backup musicians for top artists, from Laura Pausini to Ermal Meta.

Since 1987, the CPM Music Institute has brought music to places of social hardship. For 37 years, the school founded and presided over by Franco Mussida has operated in 2 communities and 15 Italian prisons, developing projects that have involved over 10,000 inmates. CPM carries forward the CO2 “Controlling Hate” project (music libraries organized by mood, active in 12 Italian prisons and conceived by Franco Mussida), works in San Vittore, and collaborates with the San Patrignano community (where another music library is active). Recently, it realized Wait, a rap musical performed by young people in rehabilitation programs, supported by Pop Rock Composition students. Such experiences open the minds and hearts of students, shaping them into conscious musicians.

Last but not least, culture: for several years, CPM has collaborated with Premio Campiello Giovani and the Giffoni Festival.
